What language usage covers
Items are drawn from the instructional areas MAP Growth Language Usage reports on:
- Grammar and usage — verb tense, agreement, pronouns and modifiers.
- Mechanics — capitalization, punctuation and spelling in context.
- Sentence structure — fragments, run-ons, combining and clarity.
- Writing process — organizing ideas, word choice and revising a draft.
The AI tutor explains every miss
Grammar is where an explanation matters most — knowing an answer is wrong teaches nothing on its own. In Learning Mode the stopwatch is off and there is no score. When your child picks the wrong option, the AI tutor names the rule, rewrites the sentence correctly and walks through why, in kid-friendly language they can also hear read aloud.
Reports written for parents
Every mock test ends with a RIT score, national percentile and an AI summary in plain language, plus an improvement plan with the specific conventions to practice next.
